BSK-CiC is a Community Interest Company that operates a variety of European-funded projects to help SME's in the Southeast improve their environmental credentials. Services include; free environmental audits and renewable technology feasibility studies.
Business Link offers practical advice to help businesses across the UK improve their environmental performance and reduce energy costs. Information is available online, or you can receive one-to-one consultancy and, in some cases, funding from your regional Business Link.
Carbon Footprint Calculator
The ACT ON CO2 calculator is provided by Direct Gov to help you find out what your carbon footprint is. The website also offers a personalised action plan with recommendations about how you can help tackle climate change.
The Carbon Trust is a government-funded independent company set up to help businesses and public sector organisations cut carbon emissions and to exploit the potential of low carbon technologies. It provides information, advice and practical solutions, including funding, to help businesses save energy.
Defra (the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) provides the UK government lead on the protection and improvement of the environment. It offers information and advice on Government policy and regulations on their website, as well as funding to help businesses make changes, particularly in the area of Environmental Management Systems.
ecoConnect CIC is a not-for-profit UK green business association, connections hub and "voice of the industry", focussing on business support, investment, policy, jobs and skills. They bring together leadership to help accelerate the pace of cleantech both domestically and abroad. Their forums and workshops showcase leaders in their fields, with important views on policy, investment, technology and the environment.
Energy Saving Trust
The Energy Saving Trust is a non-profit organisation, funded by government and the private sector, to provide information and advice to businesses, individuals and organisations on how to cut CO2 emissions by promoting the sustainable and efficient use of energy.
The Environment Agency is the biggest organisation working to protect and improve the environment in England and Wales. As well as offering assistance on how to use resources more efficiently, it can also offer help if you have a particular environmental problem. The Agency also has powers to take action against those who don't take their environmental responsibilities seriously, including charging fines.
Envirowise delivers government-funded free, confidential advice to help UK businesses to increase profitability and reduce environmental impact. It has free advice line and runs a number of events throughout the year, as well as offering information on their website.
Green Business Network (GBN)
The Green Business Network (GBN) is a not-for-profit business support organisation delivering environmental advice to help businesses improve their environmental performance. In some cases, grant funding is available to help implement the suggested changes.
Groundwork is a national charity with 50 local trusts in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. It works to help communities create cleaner, safer, greener neighbourhoods in which to live. Each trust offers practical support, advice, information and training to companies on environmental business issues.
National Energy Foundation
The National Energy Foundation helps individuals and businesses reduce their carbon emissions through the use of energy efficiency measures and renewable energy sources to help combat climate change. It provides information tools and bespoke consultancy to help businesses reduce their CO2 emissions.
NetRegs is a partnership between the UK environmental regulators and provides free environmental guidance for small businesses in the UK to help them understand how to comply with environmental legislation and protect the environment.
Recycle at work
Recycle at work is an online search tool provided by WRAP to help you locate your nearest recycling service provider by simply entering your postcode. This free resource also gives information about the different materials that can be recycled and details of whether they will collect from your premises.
Sustainable Build offers impartial information and advice on building sustainably and how to use eco-friendly construction techniques.
Transport Fleets and Travel Plans
This website from the Energy Saving Trust is dedicated to helping you find impartial advice and relevant information on more sustainable travel and transport methods. The website contains publications, case studies and press releases that can help you learn more about greener vehicles and efficient driving.
Waste Watch is an independent, not-for-profit, environmental organisation specialising in promoting sustainable resource use across the UK. It helps educate business to manage resources more sustainably, including recycling and waste prevention.
Workincleantech.com is a specialist jobs portal for cleantech, low carbon jobs and green industry, matchmaking Employers and Recruiters with job seekers within the UK and internationally. Notifications of new jobs are also posted on Twitter. Workincleantech.com brings together the latest in job opportunities across the entire spectrum of cleantech industry and is free-to-post.
