04/02/2010 - Green Loan Fund Launched
A £4 million loan fund has been announced to help South East of England-based businesses improve their sustainability.
Backed with £3.8 million from the European Regional Development Fund, SEEDA’s new South East Sustainability Loan Fund is expected to support around 2,500 companies across the region.
They will be able to lend between £20,000 and £200,000 to reduce waste, develop sustainable technologies, and focus on sustainable procurement.
Participating firms will also undergo training and environmental audits “in order to establish methods that boost profits through energy reduction”.
Oona Muirhead, SEEDA’s group executive director of strategy and support, said
“The funding from the European Regional Development Fund comes at a time when so many businesses are working to grow out of recession. Investing in going green will help businesses to cut costs, increase profits and support long-term sustainable prosperity in the South East.”
The fund will be run by regional funding organisation Finance South East – for further information, contact Sally Goodsell on 01276 608510.
