funding news

Farmers across Northern Ireland are invited to apply for funding to help them adopt environmentally-friendly land management practices.

The latest round of the Rural Development Programme-funded Countryside Management Scheme is open to applications from 10-31 March.

Through the programme, farmers and land managers can claim funding to adopt practices that protect biodiversity, important habitats and threatened species, whilst improving the quality of habitats and waterways.

Announcing the new funding window earlier this month, Agriculture Minister Michelle Gildernew said:

“Farmers have been doing a great job managing our countryside for many years through the CMS, with around 13,000 participants here.

“I appreciate the contribution of all of the farmers and landowners who already make a difference to the countryside through agri-environment schemes.”
